Amsterdam – General Information

Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands and is known for its beautiful canals, historical architecture, and vibrant culture. The city is located in the central part of the country and is easily accessible by plane, train, or car.

Quick facts:

  • Time zone: CET + 1 hour.
  • Climate: The city has a moderate maritime climate, with mild winters and cool summers. Temperatures in October range from approximately 7°C at night to 15°C during the day.

When visiting Amsterdam, it’s important to dress appropriately for the weather and local customs. Modest clothing is generally recommended, especially when visiting religious sites. In the evening, it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket or sweater, as temperatures can drop.

  • Currency: Euro (EUR). Credit cards are widely accepted. See x-rates.com for the latest rates.
  • Electricity: 220 volts.
  • Plug type: Plugs have two round pins or two rectangular pins (Type C and F). Please bring your own adaptors, if necessary.

If you have any questions prior to the event, please do not hesitate to contact Sergey Miroshnikov by email at smiroshnikov@icef.com.

We look forward to welcoming you to Amsterdam!
