ICEF’s 2017 Higher Education Workshop, held on September 9, 10 and 11, 2017 in Seville, Spain, saw significant growth in the number of attendees over 2016, including a strong contingent of Spanish education professionals seeking to establish their country as an international destination for students.
The ICEF 2017 Higher Education Workshop provided an opportunity for international institutions, selected higher education-focused agents, and relevant service providers to hold one-to-one networking meetings. Over the course of the two-day workshop, 2 227 meetings were conducted (an increase of 11% over 2016) with 275 participants (up 13%) from 206 organisations and institutions, an increase of 7% compared with the 2016 ICEF Higher Education Workshop in Liverpool. These participants were drawn from 60 countries from Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe and the Americas.
Sini Saarenheimo, Head of Admissions at the University of Helsinki, Finland, said: “As a world top 100 university, we recognise the need to develop a network of agents internationally. The ICEF Higher Education Workshop was a wonderful opportunity not just to learn about the role of agents, but also to meet agents from around the world.”
The 2017 ICEF Higher Education Workshop dinner was held near the historic Plaza de San Francisco, with the 15th century Gothic architecture providing a magnificent setting for the event. Delegates were entertained by flamenco dancers and guitarists in classic Spanish style, and enjoyed a warm welcome including fine Spanish wines and cuisine.
In 2018, both the ICEF Higher Education Workshop and ICEF Higher Education Partnership Forum will be held in Geneva, Switzerland. See www.icef.com/he for details.
