About this event

The 19th annual ICEF China is the largest and most established networking event for the international education community anywhere in Asia. In 2021, this event returns as a hybrid event, taking place in Beijing and simultaneously online. This powerful format offers international education and service providers a time- and cost-effective way to develop and extend their network across this fast growing market.

The recent explosion of Asia’s middle class is set to create a new consumer market larger in number and spending power than the rest of the world combined by 2030. China is already the greatest source of international students in the world, and all Asian countries are expected to contribute to an enormous increase in outbound student numbers as international travel resumes.

ICEF China the ideal place to meet and engage with the best student recruitment agents from all over China and greater Asia, while networking and sharing ideas with peers from around the world. Having run successful networking events in China since 1999, ICEF has built considerable local expertise and an extensive footprint, with local agent managers maintaining regular close contact with over 250 active agents. As a result, ICEF China offers unmatched insight into this famously difficult-to-access region.

Programme & Seminars

At this networking event, you can build your own personalised programme of around 38 one-to-one video meetings with existing and would-be partners of interest.

Whether you join us in-person or online, you will also be able to access our range of seminars providing up-to-date information and the latest market trends and issues currently affecting international education across Asia and China in particular. Featuring insightful speakers relevant to the world of international student recruitment, these optional seminars are available live during the event and on demand through our online platform, both during and for 4 weeks after the event, so you can build your schedule to suit you.

This unmatched combination of personalised meetings, informative webinars, and informal networking opportunities provides the most intuitive and cost-effective way to keep up with the latest developments in international education, as well as meeting with existing and new partners.

Who goes to ICEF China?

ICEF China enables participants to meet with top quality ICEF-screened agents from 12 Asian countries, with around 65% coming from China. These Chinese agents are selected from 24 different locations, including the Tier 1 gateway megacities of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, as well as from 20 other Tier 2 and Tier 3 provincial capital cities, high growth powerhouses and leading regional economic hubs.

Whether you’re looking to forge new connections in the region, raise your profile, or just want to bring your offer to an eager market, you’re sure to benefit from attending.

Additional event information

A hybrid event marries the immersive in-person onsite experience of an in-person networking conference with the ability to participate virtually, allowing delegates to not only attend at the venue, but also from wherever they are in the world.

As well as being able to meet with international education colleagues physically present at the same location, delegates attending the event can also seamlessly schedule additional meetings with global education professionals elsewhere. Likewise, attendees taking part virtually from elsewhere may also meet with others located anywhere around the world and participate in the full seminar programme.

For those attending virtually, our events use a combination of Marcom eSchedule PRO and Zoom to provide a seamless and engaging networking experience for all participants. This combination offers you direct and total control over the types of partners you meet during the event based on their main activity and country of origin, as well as the peace of mind of using a secure and stable platform for your meetings.

Once registered, you will receive a confirmation via email with log-in details enabling you to access our meeting scheduling system approximately 4 weeks prior to the event through your myICEF portal.

Please note that, while we will make every effort to deliver this hybrid event as detailed, ICEF reserves the right to deliver this event in an online only format should guidance from local health authorities change.

What are the three ways delegates may meet each other?

  1. Physical delegates can meet each other face to face at the event.
  2. Physical delegates will also be able to meet virtual participants – from their meeting tables (own device and headsets required), in specially designated areas or in the comfort of their own hotel room.
  3. Virtual delegates can meet participants who are onsite at the event or also taking part virtually from another location.

How are meetings scheduled at a hybrid event?

We are using an enhanced hybrid version of Marcom eSchedulePRO with integrated Zoom at this event.

This will allow event delegates to seamlessly combine in-person and online Zoom meetings within one schedule. Meeting scheduling for ICEF Asia 2021 will open approximately four weeks prior to the event.

What health precautions are ICEF taking to reduce the risk of infection?

The health and safety of our delegates is the primary concern for us at ICEF and we are taking regular advice to ensure that our event conforms to the latest health guidance provided by the local authorities. Precautions we are taking include:

  • Temperature monitoring of all delegates upon arrival and at regular intervals throughout the event.
  • Provision of hand sanitiser stations throughout the venue.
  • Ensuring all spaces conform to social distancing guidelines by reconfiguring booth and table layouts as well as queuing systems. This will ensure adequate distancing and will discourage the formation of groups, whilst preserving the ability for delegates to comfortably browse products and services of interest.
  • Operating a one-way transit system throughout the venue.
  • Ensuring that all delegates are able to maintain a distance of at least 1.5m from other attendees during meetings and seminar sessions.
  • Live streaming seminars and making these available on demand for all delegates who do not wish to attend the session in-person.
  • Providing guidance to all delegates on social distancing and infection control best practices.
  • Providing face masks to be optionally worn by all participants during the event, to reduce the risk of virus transmission. We recommend that these should be worn when moving around the event venue or whenever social distancing is not possible.
  • Ensuring enhanced cleaning and regular disinfection of high-touch areas.
  • Subjecting food & beverage options and their delivery to tightened safety standards.
  • Making all ICEF events paperless. All event-related documents such as catalogues, bag inserts etc. will be available in a digital format only.

What happens if this event cannot take place in person?

We will follow the latest advice provided by local health authorities and will only allow the in-person aspects of this event to take place if it is safe to do so. In the event that local authorities restrict in-person networking, our hybrid event platform allows for us to seamlessly deliver this event in an online only format.
