ALTO ALTO is the global forum for agents, schools, and language travel associations, providing a platform for members to network, create trading opportunities, and act on issues facing the industry. Membership is open to the leaders of organisations and businesses involved in language or educational travel. Formed at the World Youth & Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) in Miami in 1998, ALTO has over the years fallen under the umbrella of several prestigious organisations such as the International Student Travel Confederation (ISTC), the Federation of International Youth Travel Organisations (FIYTO), and the World Youth Student & Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation. In 2011, ALTO started a new era as an independent professional association, and continues to thrive with a growing membership base. ICEF has been a member and active suppporter of ALTO since its foundation in 1998.

BAISIS The British Association of Independent Schools with International Students (BAISIS) exists to provide help in the form of training, development and mutual support to its members and for quality assurance purposes. Founded in 1997 by Bedford, Rossall, Sherborne and Taunton Schools, we have grown substantially and our members now include boarding schools, study centres and colleges. Today the association is an influential organisation which represents an important sector of British education and our training programmes are accredited by the BSA.

British Educational Travel Association (BETA) The British Educational Travel Association (BETA) is the umbrella body representing producers and suppliers of youth, student and educational travel related products. BETA has raised awareness of this important yet previously under-represented sector, and created an environment that encourages enhanced trading between organisations and better access to government departments and other public sector bodies. ICEF has been a member of BETA since 2005.

EAIE The EAIE is a non-profit, member-led organisation serving individuals actively involved in the internationalisation of their institutions through a combination of training, conferences, and knowledge acquisition and sharing. The EAIE has a committed membership of more than 1 800 international education professionals – from rectors to professors to international exchange coordinators. ICEF has been a member of the EAIE since 1991.

IEAA The IEAA is Australia's leading association for international education, with a growing membership of over 3,700 individual members from almost 280 institutions and organisations in Australia and internationally. IEAA members are individuals from all sectors of the international education industry - including higher education, TAFE, vocational education, schools and English language colleges. Membership also includes individuals from government and business. Since its establishment in 2004, the IEAA has provided leadership, research, advocacy and professional learning for international education professionals. We strive to empower professionals, engage institutions and enhance Australia's reputation as a provider of world-class education. Together with our affiliates, corporate partners and government, we work to promote the benefits of international education to the broader community through three strategic pillars: Learning & Development, Research and Advocacy.

JAFSA JAFSA is an association comprised of universities, individuals, and other entities including private firms as supporting members interested in facilitating the internationalization of education in Japan and around the world. JAFSA serves its members by providing the support and advocacy necessary for its members, and other similar public and private institutions in Japan, and by making efforts to attain JAFSA’s mission of enhancing excellence in international education in Japan. JAFSA believes that enhancing excellence in international education will advance the development of individuals who will be more understanding of the differences of peoples and societies in the world, and in turn will foster peace, security and the well-being of the global community.

NAFSA Global Partnership Program NAFSA: Association of International Educators is the world’s largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange. NAFSA’s 10 000 members are located at more than 3 500 institutions worldwide, in over 150 countries. NAFSA’s Global Partnership Program is comprised of international education’s best, most innovative organisations. NAFSA’s partners work with thousands of professionals around the world to help promote and administer international student exchange of millions of students every year. The Global Partnership Program is a key tool that helps forge strategic alliances with the broader NAFSA membership and other organisations engaged in the field. ICEF has been a NAFSA member since 1991 and a supporting global partner since 2005.

World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) The World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation is a global not-for-profit membership organisation dedicated to promoting and developing opportunities for young travellers and the youth, student, and educational travel industry that serves them. The WYSE network consists of more than 600 members from 120 countries. ICEF joined WYSE Travel Confederation in 2002.

AIRC Founded in 2008, AIRC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) membership association of accredited U.S. post-secondary institutions and student recruitment agencies which work together to establish quality standards for international student placement within the United States. AIRC is a Standards Development Organization registered with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.

BOSSA BOSSA (Beijing Overseas Study Services Association) is a government-supported industry association of member educational agencies founded in 2004. BOSSA operates under the direction of the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and currently has over 70 agency members. It assists the Chinese government in setting policies and standards on study in China and abroad services, and reinforces proper management of the study abroad industry. BOSSA is a non-profit independent organisation of international influence that is devoted to promoting the development of domestic and international education. BOSSA is the only organisation of its kind that is recognised by the Chinese government.

CAPS-I CAPS-I is a non-profit association of 120 publicly-funded school districts/boards and sets the standard for quality international programs in Canada.  Member schools offer international short/long term student programs for various grade levels ranging from primary to high school graduation. Over 75% of our international students are referred through education agencies.

NAFSA NAFSA serves the needs of more than 11,000 members and international educators worldwide and is the leading organization committed to international education and exchange, working to advance policies and practices that build global citizens with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in today's interconnected world.

The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) is a voluntary membership organization for nearly 300 boarding schools in the United States, Canada, and abroad. The independently incorporated non-profit organization exclusively serves the marketing and professional development needs of college-preparatory boarding schools, and provides information for families and other individuals about the benefits of living and learning in a residential setting.

The Class Foundation The Class Foundation is a partner-based non-profit organisation with a simple goal: to further the professionalism and knowledge of student housing in Europe and beyond. USDLA The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming distance education by empowering educators. Founded in 1987 as the first nonprofit distance learning association in the U.S., USDLA focuses on providing instructors with the tools, training, and resources they need to deliver effective and engaging online education. The association serves over 100,000 professionals across education, business, health, and government, offering networking opportunities, webinars, and leadership roles. USDLA's voice influences policy, research, and best practices in distance education. The organization also certifies institutions and educational providers who meet its rigorous quality standards, ensuring a superior learning experience for students worldwide. Through its mission, USDLA connects people, practices, and policies to achieve the highest potential of distance and digital learning.

Association of Agents for Overseas Studies Recruitment of Nigeria The Association of Agents for Overseas Studies Recruitment of Nigeria was founded and registered in 2016. The association was created to ensure agents exhibit professionalism, ethics, and good conduct in their responsibilities as an international education agents. AAFOSRON aims to assure overseas educational institutions that agents in Nigeria can be trusted and to ensure cordial relationships between the association members and foreign institutions.

Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) The Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) was formed in October 1996 to assure the integrity and credibility of agents who are recruiting students on behalf of Australian education and training institutions. The establishment of AAERI was an initiative of Australian Education International (AEI) although AAERI is an independent organisation, registered under the Societies Registration Act of India.

Association of Belgian Education & Language Immersion Operators (ABELIO) The Association of Belgian Education & Language Immersion Operators (ABELIO) was founded in 2017 as a non-for-profit professional association. It aims at bringing together the agencies and operators of the Belgian market in order to represent the study travel industry in Belgium; and speak as one voice to the authorities and the public sector. Also, ABELIO’s wish is to ensure ethics and quality standards within the sector in Belgium, and to maintain good business relationships between the different organisations working in the study travel industry, based in Belgium.

ABRASEEIO ABRASEEIO, the Brazilian Association of Study Abroad Specialists for Oceania, is a group made up of Brazilian companies focused on study opportunities in Australia and New Zealand. ABRASEEIO was founded in October 2009 with the goal to raise the quality of services offered to Brazilian students wishing to study in Oceania.

The Australian Education Consultancy Alliance (AECA) The Australian Education Consultancy Alliance (AECA) is a professional network of leading education consultancy businesses that specialize in guiding students toward international education opportunities, particularly in Australia. Our alliance comprises a robust network of experienced consultants who operate under a unified vision of excellence in student recruitment, visa services, and education pathways. AECA functions as a collective platform, bringing together the top education consultancies to create a strong industry presence. Ukrainian Association of International Education and Exchange Agencies (AIEEA)  The Ukrainian Association of International Education and Exchange Agencies (AIEEA) is non-profit organisation established in 2012 by leading Ukrainian agencies providing consultancy services in International Education and Exchange Programmes. The aim of the association is to support the members and promote and develop the International Education and Exchanges Industry in Ukraine, as well as provide high quality, reliable services. The founder members of the AIEEA are highly qualified Ukrainian agencies, many with over 10 years of experience in the industry and are benchmark for quality. AIEEA also offers support services to Educators including marketing intelligence and assistance in meeting reliable local agencies.

Mexican Association of Educational Travel The Mexican Association of Educational Travel (AMTE) is dedicated to fostering a culture of international education. Its mission is to establish a standard of excellence and professionalization within the industry through collaboration among its stakeholders. AMTE is composed of leading educational travel agencies in Mexico, prestigious schools, diplomatic missions, and service providers who are continually innovating in the field of international education. Furthermore, AMTE is supported by several renowned international organizations that are deeply committed to the global advancement of the industry.

ANEX At ANEX, our mission is to unite Colombian agencies dedicated to promoting studies abroad. ASEPROCE ASEPROCE (Spanish Association of Language Travel Agents) is a non-profit organization founded in 1987, representing 70 language travel agencies in Spain and covering over 80% of the market. It ensures members follow a strict code of practice, providing accurate information and high-quality service. ASEPROCE is a trusted authority in the language travel sector and a reliable source for the public and media.

BC Council for International Education (BCCIE) The BC Council for International Education (BCCIE) is a learner-driven, non-government agency funded by the province of British Columbia (BC). BCCIE represents the province’s public and accredited private K-12, post-secondary, career college and language institutions to international learners around the world. BCCIE is committed to advancing the international education interests of the province of BC.

Belta Belta – Brazilian Educational & Language Travel Association – gathers the major Brazilian institutions offering courses, training and exchange programs abroad. Founded on June 1, 1992, Belta is an acknowledged association in Brazil and abroad. Currently, its members representabout 70% of the international education market in Brazil. As specialists in international education, Belta members act as operators of professional and study abroad programs and offer guidance to their clients in regards to the best educational opportunities.

Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS), is an association of Canada’s best independent schools that meet the highest international standards of educational excellence. All of our schools undergo a rigorous CAIS National Standards accreditation process. This process is recognized by the NAIS Commission on Accreditation and ensures that all accredited schools are pursuing best practices in every major area of program and operation. CAIS includes over 90 schools, all of which commit to undergoing a reflective and collaborative school improvement process, meet National Standards, and participate in research and professional development. Out of the thousands of private and independent day and boarding schools in Canada, only 27 Boarding Schools meet the 12 CAIS National Standards and have earned accreditation.

Community Colleges for International Development, Inc. (CCID) For nearly 40 years, Community Colleges for International Development, Inc. (CCID) has provided a network for colleges to further their internationalization initiatives and to enhance the development of a globally competent workforce for the communities they serve. Center for the Global Advancement of Community Colleges (CGACC) The Center for the Global Advancement of Community Colleges (CGACC) provides community colleges with guidance to face their internationalization endeavours, while advancing and articulating the mission and purpose of the U.S. community college model abroad with a high level of intensity and passion. China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) Founded in 1981, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) is China’s nationwide not-for-profit organization conducting international educational exchanges and cooperation. Its headquarters is located in Beijing. CEAIE has a full commitment to meeting the needs of China’s modernization construction, developing exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese educational community and other parts of the world, promoting the advancement of education, culture, science and technology, and strengthening understanding and friendship among the peoples of all countries and regions of the world. CEAIE has established a wide network with partner associations and institutions at home and long-term working relationships with over 170 educational organizations in more than 50 countries and regions. CEAIE has been granted the Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and established official relations with UNESCO. Since its establishment, CEAIE has contributed to the development of China’s international education. In 2014, it was awarded 5A China Social Organization, the highest grade of such, based on the result of evaluation conducted by the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is the voice of Canada’s publicly-supported colleges, institutes, cegeps and polytechnics, and an international leader in education for employment with ongoing programs in over 25 countries. Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) The Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) was registered at The Chief District Administrating Office (CDO), Kathmandu, Nepal on B.S 2054/5/13 – 29th August 1997 – to ensure member organizations provide proper information, guidance and counselling to parents who want to send their children abroad to their further education. ECAN has now come up with a Code of Conduct to regulate and monitor the activities of all ECAN member organizations so that the students and parents benefit from the ECAN Objectives.

Enterprise Ireland Enterprise Ireland manages the Education in Ireland national brand under the authority of the Minister for Education and Skills. Enterprise Ireland is responsible for the promotion of Irish Higher Education Institutions overseas.

EDUITALIA EDUITALIA is an association of universities and schools located in Italy. By collaborating with the major Italian institutions, the association facilitates students and researchers wanting to study in Italy. Our goal is to promote courses available in Italian schools and universities, and to encourage the increase of foreign student attendance at these institutions.

Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) Malaysia has an ambitious goal to reach an international student enrolment of 200,000 by 2020, and is targeting further growth within Southeast Asia, as well as from China, India, and the Gulf Region. To accelerate its progress towards these goals, Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) – a private agency under the authority of the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) – was created, in order to brand and market the country as an international education destination.

English Australia English Australia is the national peak body for the English language sector of international education in Australia. English Australia represents over 120 member colleges throughout Australia that provide quality English language programs to students and professionals from around the world. Over 80% of international students learning English in Australia choose to study with an English Australia member college. As an association, English Australia has a focus on representing colleges whose core business is English language teaching, providing best practice support and expertise to member colleges and promoting the English language sector with global visionary leadership.

English New Zealand English New Zealand is the voice of the English language sector in New Zealand, comprising a group of well-established, quality English language schools located across New Zealand. English New Zealand is a registered society that incorporates the long-standing organisation known as FIELSNZ (Federation of Independent English Language Schools of New Zealand), which was set up in 1986. Member schools offer quality English language tuition, teacher training (TESOL) and pathways into universities, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions in New Zealand.

English South Africa (ESA) English South Africa (ESA) is the national association of quality language centres in South Africa. It is committed to developing and guiding the growth of the English language travel industry in South Africa and ensuring that its members meet or exceed guaranteed minimum standards of professionalism and quality.

English UK English UK is the national association of accredited English Language centres, and the world’s leading language teaching association, with around 470 members, all fully-accredited language-teaching centres in the state and private sector. We work to represent their interests, promote the UK market, and to ensure that students get the highest-possible standards of teaching and care. We also work with a range of partners, including Government bodies and the best study abroad agents, in the interests of members, students and the industry. English UK was created in 2004 from two established language centre organisations and has grown steadily. Membership of English UK is a badge of quality: all our members must pass one of the world’s most rigorous inspection schemes, Accreditation UK, which we manage jointly with the British Council.

European School Service (ESS) The European School Service (ESS) is a non-profit association founded in 1967, primarily to support efforts to maintain high standards in language courses offered where the target language is spoken. It is your label of control. The ESS Members are language tour operators and school agencies in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. Your international-mix guarantee!

FDSV The Association of German Language Schools and Language-Tour Operators (FDSV) is a consortium of leading German language-tour operators and language schools that have committed to compliance with the strict Quality Guidelines of the FDSV – on the basis of the European standard for language-study tour providers (EN 14804). Founded in 1977, the FDSV played a leading role in the development of the standard for language-study tour providers.

FEDELE Currently there are 76 schools of Spanish under FEDELE’s “umbrella of protection”, whose main activity is teaching Spanish to foreigners. The FEDELE schools endeavour to teach Spanish in the full extent of the term, thus including Spain’s history and its cultural diversity. For this reason, membership is comprised of schools from the Canary Islands, Andalusia, Castilla and León, Catalonia, the Valencia Community, the Madrid Community and the Basque Country.

Fédération des établissements d’enseignement privés (FEEP) La Fédération des établissements d’enseignement privés (FEEP) regroupe 193 établissements répartis sur l’ensemble du territoire québécois. Ces établissements dispensent des services à plus de 113 000 élèves de l’éducation préscolaire et de l’enseignement primaire et secondaire, soit environ 10% des élèves du Québec.

The Ghana Association of International Education Consultants (GAIEC) The Ghana Association of International Education Consultants (GAIEC) is a non-profit organisation that unites education consulting companies in Ghana with the shared goal of enhancing the quality, credibility, and ethical standards of services offered to students pursuing education abroad. Founded with the vision of promoting collaboration and professionalism within the industry, GAIEC serves as a platform for education consultants to exchange knowledge, set industry standards, and advocate for policies that benefit both consultants and students alike. Through our various initiatives ranging from professional development workshops and information sharing to advocacy and ethical regulation, we aim to create a robust and trustworthy network of consultants who are equipped to guide Ghanaian students toward their academic aspirations overseas.

Groupement FLE  Established in 1994, Groupement FLE brings together schools teaching French in France which offer a wide range of quality services to students, business people or people just interested in learning French in France during a language stay. Our schools propose a wide range of French courses: general French, specific purposes courses, courses for teachers of French, preparation for DELF/DALF exams, junior vacation courses. Groupement FLE also aims to promote its member schools, as well as sharing experience and knowledge to improve quality standards. This ‘quality reference’ is based on criteria, firm commitments and audits, outlined in a reference document, to which all Groupement FLE member schools adhere. In 2025, Groupement FLE represents 48 quality schools in France.

International Association of Language Centres The International Association of Language Centres was founded in 1983 by eight private language schools in Europe and North America and has since grown to become a global association for private, independent language schools. Today, the IALC network of schools extends across the world, from Auckland to Tokyo, via St Petersburg and Galway to Montréal and down to San José and Santiago. IALC is proud to play a role in helping people to communicate with each other, learn about other cultures, and to discover and enjoy a diverse and fascinating world.

IALCA Founded in 1997, IALCA (the Italian Association of Language Consultants and Agents) aims to promote the quality and professionalism of study abroad courses, while defending the interests of students. IALCA is a quality guarantee for member companies that promote language courses abroad. The association defines the requirements and quality levels of all services offered and verifies the guarantees provided by language programmes, while ensuring full compliance with the law. All IALCA member agencies are committed to providing accurate course information, ensuring the quality of the schools and the efficiency of the services offered before, during and after the course.

International Au Pair Association (IAPA) The International Au Pair Association (IAPA) was founded in 1994 and is the leading global trade association for organizations active in all aspects of au pair and cultural exchange programmes. The non-profit association represents about 170 member organizations active in 45 countries. IAPA’s aim is to promote and lobby Au Pair programmes worldwide, and to ensure quality, safety and high standards within the programme in a way that young people and host families have an enrichening experience.

International Student Education Agents Association (ISEAA) The International Student Education Agents Association (ISEAA) was officially launched in 2018 at the third SYMPLED event in Melbourne, though its roots go back more than a decade. Founded by a group of education agents, ISEAA was created to give agents a united voice in international education. For too long, education agents had little input into government or industry decisions that directly affected their work. ISEAA fills this gap by representing agencies of all sizes and nationalities, providing a single, diverse voice for the sector. Since its launch, ISEAA has worked with government bodies, associations, and industry partners to advocate for education agents and strengthen their role in international education. Italian in Italy Italian in Italy association is an expanding association of independent schools, privately owned, based on voluntary work of members all over Italy. Its members teach Italian language and culture to students from all over the world. The association, founded in 1997, stands for quality in terms of teacher training, up to date didactic methodologies and complaints management.

Independent Tertiary Education New Zealand (ITENZ) Independent Tertiary Education New Zealand (ITENZ) is the pre-eminent national association for private tertiary providers in New Zealand, representing almost half the private tertiary training establishments in the country. ITENZ is recognised by the government and government agencies as the main representative of the sector. ITENZ is dedicated to uniting the private tertiary education (PTE) sector and representing the collective membership in a competitive and challenging political environment. All provider members of ITENZ are registered with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and are quality assured through the authority.

Japan Association of Overseas Study (JAOS) JAOS, Japan Association of Overseas Study, was established in 1991. In 2008, JAOS was granted General Incorporated Association status from Japanese government. As of 2019, JAOS membership consists of 65 organizations including study-abroad agencies and public organizations such as Australian Embassy Marketing Office, British Council, as well as various trade related associations. JAOS is also an active member of FELCA, (The Federation of Education and Language Consultant Associations). Through this membership, JAOS develops optimal study abroad infrastructure for Japanese students studying in overseas educational institutions.

KAEA  KAEA was created to coordinate the activities of members with the purpose of improving given services, cultural and educational development of Kazakhstan, establishment and strengthening of links with educational organizations, representation and defence of common property and other interests of its members.

KIEA In 2025, KIEA, the Korean Association of the Korean study industry has established a new ethical code to create a better study abroad service culture. In order to improve the professionalism and ethical awareness of member employees, we have regular ethical management training at least once a year.

TIECA The history of TIECA dates back to 1990 when a group of twelve educational consultants in Thailand formed an independent, self-regulating group under the name “The Educational Consultants Group of Thailand”, widely known as ECT. The main objectives of the group were to share their expertise in the field of international education and to help raise standards of practice and services rendered to students and international institutions. Over the years, more and more professionals joined the group. Seven years later, with 50 members from various areas of Bangkok and one Northern province, the group became a legal entity. On 11 September 1997, the group was granted approval to become an association and is now known as “The Thai International Education Consultants Association” or (TIECA).
