ICEF has been at the forefront of the international education sector, enabling connections between study abroad counsellors and educators for three decades. Our certified courses and accreditations support our global community of counsellors, and we are proud that today, ICEF-certified education agents can be found in every corner of the globe.
Driven to support quality and professional standards in international student recruitment practices, ICEF created the ICEF Agent Training Course (IATC) in 2010. Since then, it has developed a Chinese language customised version of the IATC as well as a range of courses focused on popular study destinations, including Canada, the USA, Ireland, and France.
In 2022, ICEF acquired the PIER digital platform from Australia-based International Education Services (IES). The acquisition brought with it the Education Agent Training Course (EATC), developed in partnership with Australian Education International (AEI) and the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). The newly updated course became part of ICEF’s agent training programme, adding Australia to its portfolio of study destinations.
A year later, the UK Agent and Counsellor Training Course was added, delivered in partnership with the British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. It is a comprehensive professional course for agents and advisers who work with education providers or advise students wishing to study in the UK.
Also in 2023, we produced our first training programme for education providers, the Working With Education Agents Course (WEAC), a self-paced online course designed to give a comprehensive understanding of the role of agents in the sector. In early 2024, we launched the Introduction to International Education Course (IIEC), an entry-level training programme for non-agents that provides a comprehensive overview of international education systems, recruitment channels and career opportunities in international education.
