📝 Description
Although Central Asian states including the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have different development levels, they enjoy a shared history. Having been part of the Soviet Union, educational traditions continued up until recently where outbound numbers were highest to the Russian Federation and Turkey. Now, there are many more factors influencing study destination choice and students in this region are eager to explore beyond traditional markets.
In this session, the aim is to shed a new light on the Central Asian market, by exploring student mobility beyond traditional channels; whilst at the same time highlighting the barriers students and university institutions in the region face including: funding, lack of scholarships and a disruptive visa system.
