What is the IEAC?
The IEAC is specifically for education agents counselling foreign students who wish to study in Ireland at any level (from elementary to post-graduate) and in any programme.
The course is available online and is delivered free of charge. Agents taking this self-paced course can study one section at a time and progress through the course as it suits them. Once they feel confident with the course material, they can take the IEAC examination that is available online through the IEAC website, at all ICEF events, and at related international education events when advertised. If agents complete the examination successfully, they will be identified by ICEF as an ICG on the ICEF website.
Why should agents take the IEAC?
Ireland is an increasingly attractive study destination and is therefore a natural area of focus for many agents. By taking this course, interested agents will acquire comprehensive knowledge of the study options and credentials available in Ireland in all areas of education and will also be able to provide tips about how to best prepare for living and studying in Ireland to their students. Taking and passing the IEAC exam enables agents to demonstrate knowledge of Irish education and commitment to students and parents, as well as to Irish education institutions.
What recognition do agents receive upon passing the IEAC examination?
Educational agencies with staff who have passed the IEAC will have their names listed on the ICEF Irish Course Graduates (ICGs) list. This does not mean that they will have authorisation, endorsement, or accreditation by the Irish Government or any Irish-based entity or organisation. However, students and institutions will see which agents have made the commitment to taking the Irish Education Agent Course and acquired the knowledge and guidelines it delivers.
