Hotel Accommodation

Your accommodation at ICEF French Education 2023 will be sponsored by ICEF for two nights from Wednesday afternoon, May 10, 2023 until Friday morning, May 12, 2023. Your presence at the event will be expected from 09:00 to 19:00 on May 11.

A formal hotel booking confirmation will be sent to you approximately three weeks prior to the event. ICEF will sponsor one room per agency, unless otherwise stated. All additional costs for the use of telephone, minibar, early check-in/late check-out, extra nights outside the event period, parking, laundry, room service, etc. will be at your own expense. The hotel will therefore ask you for your credit card details upon check-in.

Should you need to leave the event earlier than May 11 at 19:00, please inform us of this well in advance. In accordance with the Agent Terms & Conditions, please note that clients leaving the event early without prior notification to ICEF will be subject to an Early Departure Fee equivalent to one night’s accommodation at the hotel’s prevailing rate.

Visa Requirements

Please check travel and visa regulations with your respective embassy well ahead before travelling.

To see what type of visa you need to visit Canada please check Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Visa-exempt foreign nationals who visit Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa.

Arrival in Montréal

Montréal – Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL)

Montréal – Trudeau International Airport is situated approximately 12 miles (20 km) from downtown Montréal.

Express Airport Bus 747 operates 24hrs / 7 days a week. The route with the destination to Terminus Lionel-Groulx stops at Lionel-Groulx metro station. The journey takes 25-35 min. The cost of a ticket is CAD 10. From there it is a short taxi ride to the Sofitel Golden Mile.

Taxis can be found at the arrivals level near the central exit. The fare to downtown is fixed at CAD 41. The journey takes approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Montréal Central Station / Gare centrale de Montréal

Montréal Central Station is situated approximately 0.6miles (1 km) from the venue hotel. From the station, it is a 15 min walk to the Sofitel Golden Mile.
Taxis can be found in front of the station. The duration of the journey by taxi to the Sofitel Golden Mile is approximately 5 to 10 min. The taxi fare is around CAD 8.

Uber is also available in Montréal. Rates from and to the airport may differ depending on time and traffic. Check the price estimator in your Uber app.

Scheduling Meetings

Scheduling meetings prior to the event

Approximately three weeks prior to the event you will receive access to the Marcom eSchedule PRO online meeting scheduling platform. Marcom eSchedule PRO allows you to select potential partners according to geographical origin or type of programmes and to send personalised meeting requests. We recommend to schedule a minimum of 15 meetings prior to the event.

If you are using Marcom eSchedule PRO for the first time, we recommend to have a look at the Getting Started Information as well as Scheduling Meetings – Useful Hints & Tips or to view our video tutorials.

Scheduling meetings during the event

To make the most of your participation, you can still schedule meetings with other participants once the event has started. Last minute meetings can be scheduled up to one hour before the requested meeting time.

We recommend that you leave Marcom eSchedule PRO open throughout the event to keep an eye on any new meeting invitations that may come through. Please regularly refresh your eSchedule PRO page to make sure that it’s always up to date with the latest requests.

On-site Check-in

You will be able to collect your badge and welcome bag on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, between 14:00 and 19:00 from the ICEF hospitality desk. Participants arriving after this time can register at the ICEF hospitality desk from 08.00 on Thursday, May 11.

As this is an invitation only event, anyone not wearing a badge may not be admitted into the event area. Please also understand that for the same reason we cannot allow non-registered family, friends or staff to enter the meeting hall.

COVID-19 Safety

The venue will adhere to strict hygiene regulations. It is no longer mandatory to wear a facemask, but whenever possible please respect an appropriate distance to other participants.

We are working closely with the venue and local authorities to ensure that we can deliver a safe event. As requirements might change we will update you regularly with the latest information.

Refreshments and Lunches

Snacks and refreshments will be served on May 10th at 16:00 and May 11th at 08:00, 11:00 as well as 16:00 hours. Lunch will be provided on the 11th from 13:00 to 14:00 in the Monet-Chagail.

MontrĂ©al – General Information

Montréal is located on several islands in the St. Lawrence River. With a population of approx. 1.7 million and a total of over 4 million inhabitants in the Greater metropolitan area it is the second-largest municipality in Canada and the world’s second-largest francophone city after Paris. French is the city’s official language and is spoken as first language by 66.5% of the population of the Greater Montréal Area. Around 60% of the city’s population is bilingual, speaking both French and English. Originally called Ville-Marie, or “City of Mary”, it is named after Mount Royal, the triple-peaked hill in the heart of the city on the Island of Montréal.
