Interest in the Eastern European and Central Asian markets has continued to climb in the last few years. The recent ICEF Ukraine Agent Focus, ICEF Moscow, and ICEF Central Asia Focus provided three unique opportunities for global representatives to form new partnerships with agents in these markets to support the growing demand.
A total of 687 people from 481 organisations took part in the events across all three locations. Increased meeting activity at this year’s three events was a strong indicator of the continued growth in these markets, with participants engaging in a total of 5 188 pre-scheduled business meetings.
The ICEF Ukraine Agent Focus was held in Kiev between March 19th and 20th, 2019. Arriving from 11 different countries across two continents, 176 attendees took part in 867 pre-scheduled business meetings. 100% of the agents present were Ukrainian, and 16% of those were attending the event for their first time. Educators in attendance represented key international markets including Canada (46% of educators), the UK (17%), Malta (9%), Spain (7%), and Cyprus (4%).
Olga Emerson, Student Registrations and Marketing Assistant, Maltalingua, was pleased with her experience at all three events, saying: “I attended ICEF Ukraine, Moscow, and Central Asia. It was my first time attending ICEF events. My meetings in Kiev have really paid off. I have received a lot of requests, so I believe that we will have new fruitful partnerships as a result of attending these events. I would like to say thank you to the ICEF team, they were very helpful. Our school will continue attending ICEF events in the future.”
ICEF Moscow 2019, held between March 23rd and 25th, welcomed 362 participants from 32 countries, of which 7% were first-time attendees to an ICEF event. Educator attendance grew by 18% at this year’s event with 124 educators from 92 organisations. There was a particularly strong presence of educators from markets including the UK (22%), Canada (15%), Ireland (9%), Malta (7%), and Spain (7%). The event facilitated 3 515 pre-scheduled meetings over two days. Russia accounted for 83% of the agents present at ICEF Moscow.
Speaking about her experience at all three events, Julia Abdoullaeva, Liaison Officer at the Columbia International College, said: “We attended all three cities – Kiev, Moscow, and Almaty. We were very happy with the organisation of all three events. We made many contacts and were happy with the quality of them.”
The final event was the ICEF Central Asia Focus in Almaty, Kazakhstan, which took place between March 28th and 29th, 2019. 149 participants attended the event from 24 countries, with the majority of agents present from Kazakhstan. 70% of educators were first-time participants at ICEF Central Asia Focus, with strong representation from major markets including the USA (20%), the UK (14%), Canada (11%), Malta (7%), and Australia (5%).
Thomas Lechner, Director of Recruitment at the American University of Malta, attended all three events and described his experience by saying: “This is my fifth ICEF event in 2019 and I have been happy with each and every event. I particularly enjoyed the 10-day tour of Ukraine, Moscow, and Central Asia. We made many friends and good memories along the way. As a start-up university, ICEF has empowered us to reach a global network of agents in a short period of time. So far, the quantity and quality of agents has been very good and helped us in our goal of signing 120 new agents in 2019.”
Next year the ICEF Ukraine Focus will take place in Kiev on March 23rd and 24th, ICEF Moscow on March 27th – 29th, and ICEF Central Asia Focus in Almaty on April 1st and 2nd, 2020. To find out more about ICEF events worldwide, please go to: www.icef.com/events.
