A high proportion of people attending their first-ever ICEF Workshop was a key feature of the 2017 ICEF Miami Workshop held between 11 and 13 December, 2017.
9 909 face-to-face meetings between 1 044 participants from 713 organisations took place over two days. The number of educators attending in Miami grew by 7% over 2016 to 484 representatives from 313 organisations, with 19% of these professionals attending their first ICEF Workshop in Miami.
Sally Nicholson, Director of Admissions at Chelsea Academy (USA), said: “This was my first ICEF Workshop, and I will definitely be returning. I have been in education for 25 years, and this was by far the best event I have ever attended.”
405 agents attended the Workshop from 322 organisations – 24% of whom were attending their first Miami Workshop. Agents came primarily from India, China, Vietnam, Colombia and Mexico, with 48% of agents recruiting students from Asia for entry to North American educational institutions, and a further 30% of agents recruiting in South and Central America.
Irina Novikova, General Director at In-TC (Russia), said: “ICEF is opening the door to a world of education! This was a great event, the ICEF staff were excellent and the logistics were perfect.”
The number of service providers attending the ICEF Miami Workshop also grew by 2% over 2016 to 67 organisations, primarily from the US, Canada, the UK, Germany and Australia. In addition to an outdoor welcome reception, informal networking opportunities and a closing party with traditional Latin dancers, participants were able to enhance their knowledge of current and emerging trends in international education through our extensive seminar programme. This featured 30 sessions, including international expert speakers in education, student recruitment, marketing and business development.
