PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION

ICEF Launches Agent Training Course Online

On June 1, ICEF launched an innovative, worldwide training programme for agency-based student counsellors. The ICEF Agent Training Course (IATC) is delivered online—free of charge—and in a self-paced modular format. Counsellors who complete the online course are eligible to pursue testing and certification at ICEF Workshops, as well as other selected industry events, around the world.

The IATC is offered in partnership with Australia-based PIER Online.

Visit the IATC website for more information or to register

"We believe the IATC will be an important calling card of professionalism and quality among international recruitment agents," says ICEF CEO Markus Badde. "ICEF is a committed partner for the ongoing professionalism of the international education sector, and for the development of standards and best practices in student recruitment. The IATC is a powerful statement of this commitment and an important resource for agencies the world over."

The purpose of the course is to provide student counsellors with essential skills and background knowledge for providing professional advice to international students. The course is organised in three integrated units.

"The Context of International Education" provides an overview of destination countries, including their education systems, legal requirements, and immigration systems.

"The People in International Education" explores the roles and responsibilities of students, educators, and counsellors and identifies best practices for effective communication and student care.

"Promoting International Education" outlines key marketing strategies, information resources, and ethical considerations for professional counseling and recruitment.

Counsellors who pass the exam at the end of the course will receive a certificate that confers the ICEF Trained Agent Counsellor (ITAC) designation. In a further recognition of this professional standing, all agencies with ITAC-certified counsellors on staff will be listed on a special locator map directory hosted at www.icef.com.

ICEF's professional development division, ICEF Training, delivers programmes to educators and agents who want to ensure their strategies and businesses are producing results in growing international student enrolments and developing effective business collaborations.

PIER Online offers practitioners in international education an opportunity to improve their professional competence through an accredited suite of qualifications, including the Diploma of International Education Services and the Education Agent Training Course (EATC)—a course specifically designed to provide education agents with information about Australia.
