2009 Higher Education Workshop: Universities Achieve Global Reach in Madrid The annual ICEF Higher Education Workshop continues to expand with 8% growth this year. Forty-six accredited institutions from 19 countries met with 85 ICEF-screened agents from 37 countries during the 2009 workshop in Madrid from September 13-15. As always, the event was a busy time for all involved; in total there were 1,273 pre-scheduled meetings over two days.
This specialised and unique networking forum for international universities and colleges was widely praised for its focus and the quality of participating agents. Said Ewan Mackenzie-Bowie of New Zealand's ICL Business School: "Last year's Higher Education Workshop was excellent, but this one was even better. Almost without exception, the agents were serious and genuinely interested in ICL and New Zealand." Fully 100% of attendees rated the ICEF Higher Education Workshop in Madrid as excellent or good, with many contending that it was the most focused and professional event they had ever been to. One of the main advantages of the ICEF Higher Education Workshop is the calibre of its agents: all have to undergo rigorous pre-screening and demonstrate competence in the Higher Education sector. ZiPing Feng of Thompson Rivers University noted, "This ICEF workshop gave us wonderful opportunities to meet qualified agents and professionals to assist in the growth of our international projects."
University and college participants made a point of praising the organisational skills and hospitality of ICEF staff. As Dorothy Foster of Ceram Business School in France commented: "The organisation of this workshop was excellent—well done. It's unusual to have such great hospitality at an event." Agents, too, were impressed with the Madrid event, with feedback like Sumon Talukder's (SSBCL Group, Bangladesh): "This is a high performance event ... I made several new partnerships that will allow me to offer a complete array of services to our clients. I am very happy that ICEF invited me to be a part of this great event." All ICEF Higher Education Workshop attendees were able to participate in ICEF's renowned market intelligence seminars, which this year included: "Marketing in a Recession: What Education Institutions Need to Know"; "Mobility and Motivation—Recent Trends and Influences"; and "How to Promote MBA Programmes Successfully." Sunay Tunca from Dil-Mes Study Abroad Advisory in Turkey said: "All seminars were very useful for us. I believe our business will be better as a result of the information we received."
The next ICEF Higher Education Workshop will take place in Paris, France from September 10-12, 2010—immediately before the 2010 Conference of the EAIE (European Association for International Education) in Nantes, France. |
