Innovative Education Fair Directory Launches Online

"Budgets are tight these days, and the number and variety of education fairs has exploded in recent years. What we've created here is a way for people to pinpoint the fairs that are going to help them get the best possible return on their marketing dollars." So says Tim Rogers, the former head of Student Recruitment & Admissions at the London School of Economics and now the proprietor of the consulting firm International Education Consultants UK.

International Education Consultants has partnered with Netherlands-based iE&D Solutions BV and ICEF to launch EducationFairFinder.com—an innovative new online directory designed to be a complete resource for education providers trying to choose from among the many education fairs organised worldwide. Available via annual subscription (EUR470 [US$700] per year), the site includes a customised search engine that allows education institutions to search a comprehensive database of fairs using several different filters, such as date, study level, and destination country.

The online database features detailed information on each education fair listed, and the site will soon introduce an innovative peer-based ranking system. "There is nothing like this anywhere else in education," says Rogers. "EducationFairFinder's peer review section will publish actual reviews of fairs by the institutions that are doing the recruiting and that have been to the fairs."

This peer review feature will drive an impartial ranking system that will allow institutions to have much more insight into the value that an individual fair represents. The ranking system will evaluate individual fairs according to 11 criteria—including quality of sales support and follow-up, organiser support during the event, quantity of students attending, and value for money—and will provide a standardised basis for evaluating fairs worldwide, from anywhere in the world.
